What's
New
Throughout this year, the
Sons of The American Legion are celebrating our history. In 1932, The
American Legion created the Sons of The American Legion. The first Squadron
charter was issued to Indianapolis number 133 in 1933. Denver Squadron 1 was
chartered on February 28, 1934. In 1972, the National Sons of The American
Legion was reorganized into the current national and state structures. In
1967, The American Legion Department of Colorado authorized the Detachment
of Colorado. The first meeting of the Sons of The American Legion Detachment
of Colorado elected Terry Kelley Commander on January 21, 1968. The Sons
Nationally and in Colorado will celebrate our history throughout the year.
The Detachment has 75th Anniversary Pins available for a $5
donation to The American Legion National Emergency Fund. The Department
Public Relations Committee is collecting ideas for our celebration. Send
your activities and ideas to Jim Gelwicks, PR Chairman,
